Canadian Islamic College (CIC) is a fully accredited private college providing university-level studies in which students can achieve an Honors BA in Islamic Studies. CIC received approval from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities for our first undergraduate Islamic Studies program, and our inaugural class will begin in the Fall of 2025.

CIC promotes excellence in learning, teaching, research, and community contribution, while internalizing the core values of Islam in the pluralistic and multicultural context of Canada. As a higher education institution, CIC desires to foster an atmosphere of free, open, and critical inquiry while promoting a distinctively Islamic framework within which this inquiry occurs.

As we are building our team, we seek candidates who are committed to this framework and will uphold the standards aimed at underscoring this kind of commitment to respecting Islam as detailed in CIC’s Code of Conduct.

We are seeking dynamic and passionate part-time sessional lecturers and instructors to join our team and contribute to the success of this innovative program. Our program is structured around five areas of specialization: Islamic Jurisprudence and Chaplaincy, Islamic Economics and Finance, Islamic Social and Environmental Justice, Islamic Arts and Media, and the Arabic-focused program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

– Teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the academic tracks. Examples of courses that the candidates may teach are:

     Arabic Language (all levels from beginners to advanced levels)

     Introduction to the Quran

     Introduction to the Sunnah

     Analytical and Thematic Quranic Interpretations

     Islamic Thought

     Sociology

     Philosophy

     Academic Writing

     Islam and Muslim Communities in Canada

– Model genuine Islamic character and demonstrate respect for the faith in and beyond the classroom.

– Demonstrates a willingness to further the expression of CIC’s identity as Islamic postsecondary institution

– Participation in the work of the university, including serving on university committees as needed.

Qualifications & Attributes:

– The candidate should ideally hold a PhD from a recognized college/university, complemented with 3 years or more of experience teaching in an academic setting.

– The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to the values expressed in the CIC Statement of Faith.

– The candidate should show strong teaching and mentoring skills.

– Proven record in knowledge and passion for subject matter.

– Ability to network and build a strong university community.

– Ability to respect the institution’s Islamic mission and identity.

Employment Term:

All placements at this time will be sessional. The first session will commence on September 2, 2025, and end on December 31, 2025. The second session will commence on January 5, 2026, and end on May 1, 2026.

Compensation:

Compensation will be per course, and it will be commensurate with qualifications and teaching experience.
