CIC is a subsidiary of MAC and a private college providing university level studies leading to an Honors BA in Islamic Studies.
CIC, an Islamic institution epistemologically based in the Islamic Primary Sources (the Quran and Sunnah), seeks to foster patterns of faith and conduct that are in submission to the infallible Word of God (the Quran) and the activation of these words through the Sunnah.
It offers a unique faith-based multi-disciplinary Islamic learning, thinking and socializing environment. It is the first Islamic post-secondary institution that is based in the Islamic Primary Sources (the Quran and Sunnah), while offering students a firm background in the Islamic seminal works as well as Muslim experiences and manifestations of Islam within a pluralistic society.
Drawing and learning from best practices at Canadian university Islamic theology offerings and accredited and established Islamic Colleges and Universities in the United States, the CIC aims at contributing to the Muslim community, the Canadian society and humanity at large, via studying and realizing the higher Islamic objectives of humanity. As an institution, CIC promotes excellence in learning, teaching, research and community contribution, while internalizing the core values of Islam in the pluralistic and multicultural context of Canada. Its degree in Islamic Studies has been carefully benchmarked against other universities all over the world.
As a higher education learning institution, CIC desires to foster an atmosphere of free, open and critical inquiry while also maintaining patterns of respecting belief and behavior that promote the distinctively Islamic framework within which this inquiry occurs. It aspires to empower our communities through engaged inquiry, learning, and authentic scholarship.
CIC is open to all members, whether Muslim or of other faith persuasions. Students, staff, faculty and members of CICs governing bodies are all jointly responsible for respecting and upholding CIC’s statement of faith, mission, vision, values and academic goals.
